ROOM FRAGRANCE: Use a few drops in room diffusers or oil burners to refresh and uplift the emotions, and for lifting mild depression or lethargy.
INHALATION: Spasmodic coughs and nasal or bronchial congestion may be eased by placing a few drops of Basil oil into hot water, then inhale the rising vapor through the mouth.
BATHS: Blend with other intellectually stimulating oils such as Rosemary, Pine, or Bergamot to wake up the mind and get you going following a disturbed or restless sleep.
MASSAGE: Good for any anxiety states. Prior to sitting for important examinations, a massage with basil blended with the oils above is a good way to reduce anxiety and may help the brain work more efficiently.
Caution: Basil oil could cause severe poisoning if a 5 ml. bottle were accidentally consumed by a child, if this should occur immediate medical help must be obtained.
An aromatherapy oil should not be used as a food flavoring due to concerns about its safety when consumed and question marks on its purity. Note: this concern only applies to the concentrated oil not Basil herb.
Due to the unreliable chemical composition of basil oils it may be wiser to avoid their use during early pregnancy. All essential oils must be kept away from the eyes and out of the reach of children.
