A few steps above the normal, this is an excellent Juniper Berry Essential Oil.
ROOM FRAGRANCE: Juniper can be used as a room fragrance on its own, but it is much nicer when mixed with lavender oil. The whole blend producing a wonderful relaxing fragrance.
INHALATION: Due to its mild antiseptic properties, the vapor inhaled after putting a few drops in hot water, can help nasal and bronchial infections, or the congestion following infections such as flu. Its possible anti-inflammatory properties, may also help reduce inflamed mucus linings of the nasal and bronchial tract. Inhalation of the oils vapors from water may have a diuretic effect which could be beneficial for urinary tract infections.
BATHS: A few drops of juniper oil in the bathwater can make a wonderfully relaxing soak, it is particularly good mixed with lavender. This combination is ideal following strenuous work like gardening, building or traumatic exercise such as long distance running or competitive swimming. The combination of mental relaxation caused by a warm bath, plus the inhalation of the essential oil, is hard to beat for relieving stiffness and aching of the muscles. When people are overtired, but find difficulty sleeping, it has a tenancy to have a tranquilizing effect which can lead to a gentle drift into sleep.
MASSAGE: An ideal oil for: insomnia, anxiety and general stress, but its prime use is for muscular aches and pains and NON-INFLAMMATORY arthritis. Juniper oil is ideal for local massage of areas of tight or knotted muscle. Its use helps heat up the tissues and can provide first class relief from pains caused by overworked or strained muscles. It may be helpful for bronchial ailments, acne and over active or damaged skin.
Juniper oil blends well with: Basil, Cajuput, Citrus oils, Cedar, Clary, Cypress, Geranium, Lavender, Olibanum, Rosemary, Sandalwood and Ylang.
Caution: NOT ADVISABLE IN PREGNANCY. May cause skin irritation if it is not well diluted. It is not advisable to drive immediately after the use of this oil in massage, or in the bath as some people feel a little "dreamy" for a while. Ensure juniper oil does not come into contact with the eyes. Keep all essential oils out of the reach of children.
