    Not for the sweet hearted.

I have never tried valerian oil before, though I am well aware of its therapeutic use. When i mix a couple of drops into my EO blend for evening sleep, the rotting, rancid and stinky aroma permeates my bedroom to the extent of repelling my housemate away and it lasts for more than 24 hours. LOL. But it is a potent sedative oil to aid sleeping as I could sense that my body muscles were relaxing greatly before I knocked out. A little goes a long way in EO blend. I strongly recommend it for those who want to have a peaceful sleep amid our hectic and stressful lifestyle.

    Valerian oil

Wow!! What can I say? It’s a love/hate relationship with this oil! It smells so so bad, and I have to keep it in a container double sealed. I almost lost my job (not really) when I put a drop in the diffuser! I work in a residential home with mentally ill people who suffer from major problems and we all slept like we had taken a strong tranquilizer!!! I literally felt sleepy the next day, like too much. It works so good! I know it said not to apply it topically, but I did not read that until after I had put two drops in my “liquid sleep” rollerball. I’m still scratching my head as to how I will use this powerful oil and not get sick from the smell..... love /hate

    Insomniacs Need Valerian

Posted by Anna Ellis on Nov 26th 2019

I’m pleasantly surprised by the aroma of this Valerian, I actually don’t mind the smell! Sniffing from the bottle is immediately like a glass of wine with its sedative effects. I am very impressed.

Probably the worst smelling oil by far, but I could mask the smell by adding into my sleep blend. And all I can say is it knocks me off. Very pungent, I get out of the house and sit in the patio when I make a blend with this oil.

I have never smelt valerian before and requested a sample with my order. I've heard the smell is not very pleasing so I expected it to smell bad. To my surprise I kinda like it. It didn't smell bad to me at all.

For me Valerian has got to be one of the worst smelling essential oils ever! This one has by far been my biggest challenge so far. If the oil wasn't so effective I wouldn't use it haha. I did find a mix that actually is quite pleasant, I like it anyway. I am not a professional, I'm just a mom who likes oils, but I did a small master blend with 7 French Lavender, 7 Mandarin, 4 Ylang Ylang Extra 1 Valerian and 2 Neroli. Let it sit for 48 hours. I love all the oils I've gotten from here so far, even the stinky ones LOL.
